bug man visits

Current Vacancies

We are looking for highly motivated, driven and success hungry individuals to represent Bugfest on a self-employed basis nationwide.

Could this be you?

Are you the sort of person that is willing to get out of bed at three am and travel five hours?

Are you the sort of person who can motivate themselves to get up at three am after four hours sleep three days in a row?

Are you the sort of person that thinks nothing of being on your feet non stop for eight hours and then driving three hours home and doing it again the following day?

If you can genuinely answer yes to all of the above, then we definitely want to talk to you, because, the harder you are willing to push your limits, the greater the rewards!

We are offering an insane £30 per hour – including all of your travel to and from your front door!

Remember this is not a full time job, it is zero hour self employed, however, the more you are prepared to put in, the more you get from working with Bugfest – the UK’s fastest growing entomology education outreach provider, and with the imminent arrival of the new GCSE Natural History qualification in 2028, who are the schools going to turn to for support? Unqualified bedroom wannabe amateur outfits? Or a professional company run by an ex-teacher, teacher trainer and Elected Fellow of The Royal Entomological Society?

Ideal candidates will have significant experience in keeping exotic animals as well as meeting and talking to groups of people.

A background in science or animal management will be advantageous, as will a L3+ Teaching Assistant Qualification at bare minimum, preferably fully qualified teacher status, or QTLS, DTLLS/DET,CTLLS/CET.

A degree in science is not a prerequisite, nor will not having a degree automatically bar you from selection – it’s experience that counts as a facilitator of learning, as much as academic achievement.
